How to Find the Damaged Point from an OTDR Report

OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) is an opto-electronic device mainly used to find a damaged point of a fiber optic cable. Here is a sample report generated by an OTDR.

Find the red circled area. You will see a reading for A --> B:   583.32 m   there on the above report. It is where the damage is. If you are using the OTDR to find a physical damage of the cable, which you will only use the OTDR for, this is the only important reading you should care.
